type='text'>Your very first sentence is what we are taught to ...

Your very first sentence is what we are taught to think what health is, merely an absence of sickness (symptoms). But you are right, health is so much more than that. I'm not saying we don't need the medical procedures we have developed over the years. As a doctor, I know there is a time and place for such measures. My complaint is that our system is not set up to promote true health. It teaches the public that they are healthy because they don't "feel sick." These symptoms that tell us we're sick, by the way, are part of our normal immune system response. We should find ways to enhance our defense systems, not shut it down. I do not feel that the answer rests solely with either, but instead a proper control and management of the external and internal health focus. At times we are all in need of an antibiotic for illness, or something like insulin for a diabetic for some, or even surgery. No matter what we focus on within ourselves, when we reach a point of needing those items for assistance due to necessity, the years of research and skill of physicians is much appreciated. That is by no means the final objective; wait until we get very sick before we seek help, but rather an encouragement for us to work on living a healthy lifestyle. Maintenance many times keeps us from needing a cure to a debilitating cause. And whether we observe the red flags and investigate or make health conscience decisions, I'm glad that we live in a country that many times has various options to choose from.

It's great to see the Mavs show some serious heart...

It's great to see the Mavs show some serious heart. That's also a great movie based around WW2 that focuses on the development of a league of women playing because many major league male players were drafted into the armed forces service. It has lots of humor and is a fun story based on true events. In an effort to make a home for themselves and regain their dignity a group of Japanese prisoners start a baseball league and challenge the Americans to an unforgettable game. And while the story is filled with some cliche moments and the baseball scenes lack the big budget feel, historically it is a great account of the WW2 experience for many Japanese Americans and baseball just happens to be a main theme.

The Rookie - Who can forget Dennis Quaid's portrayal of Jim Morris, teacher and high school baseball coach, who turns pro as a major league pitcher after reexamining a life long dream. Jim puts his baseball career on hold following an injury and then is caught up by life as it always happens. Along this inspirational journey the movie is accurately produced and is done so very well. This film will not disappoint.

Just a few more favorites.

That made me laugh. Not the healing aspect mind you, but the financial portion of it relating to health insurance. The number one goal of health care officials comes across as purely profit. A lack customer care or health management is so obvious that I dread even the thought of becoming ill. For I know if I do, I will be paying for the Doctor's new BMW while my family suffers and we fear loosing everything. Don't get me started on that one! If the focus of the health care system was the education of affordable and practical preventative maintenance driven by lifestyle management, we'd all be better off. As well, we'd save money in the long run.

Well said!! Finally, Satan has figured out that rather than capturing us with his agenda, it is a better strategy for him to deluge us with so many diversions and calls upon our time that they squeeze out churchanity. God created time that man can spend but he cannot save. We are faced with the dilemma of being in the world but distracted by our responsibilities and interests or withdrawing into irrelevance. The successful church will be the one that can meet the challenge head on to integrate the church into the multifaceted, pluralistic and changing world.
